Multiple Post Categories for Your Best Posts
Most experts say that you should limit the number of categories you should assign to your posts. For the most part I agree that adding your posts to too many categories can be harmful. It can create some duplicate content and dirty indexing. However, this is not the case for your best posts. You want to make sure that Google knows that these are your best. Once way to do this is to avoid restricting the number of categories the post is in.
When you put a post in multiple categories it is passed more internal link equity and ensures that it will, ceteris peribus, out rank other, lower quality posts. This will ensure that when your posts do pop to the top of the results, your best content will be presented.
Other ways to do this involve having a "favorites" block on your home page, or linking back to your favorites from subsequent posts. However, I'm that big of a fan of the latter method because it forces you to create content that links back. I'm not a fan of anything that forces content. These posts are usually easy to sniff out.
