SEO and Making Use of LinkedIn

in

Every now and then one of your co-workers is going to Google the company name to see what is ranking. If you’re responsible for the SEO duties at your organization you can shine a little by out ranking co-workers. It’s really pretty easy and can make you look like you know what you are doing. LinkedIn is such an authoritative domain that small amounts of link juice can punch you over the top. What this. I’m going to link to my profile right now with the anchor text PlattForm Advertising.

I had linked to my profile a couple of times just being diligent, but the other day I saw I was on page 2 for the company name. With that anchor text up there maybe I can jump onto page 1. I don’t think it is a bad thing. Much of SEO is political. It’s all about perception. The field is filled with so many myths that it’s hard for the non-SEOs to tell what the real story is. If you put your profile up in the rankings for the company name and it can make the job of communicating the benefits of SEO easier.
