Audiences Google Buzz Can Reach That Facebook and Twitter Can't

In a recent post I commented on my decision not to jump on the "Google Buzz sucks" bandwagon. Time will tell whether or not that was the right call. So far, I can see that Buzz is making slow progress at best in the early adopter tech segment. If you're marketing open source software or your latest blog post about FourSquare, you can probably ignore Buzz for now and continue to tweet yourself to the promise land. However, if the people you would like to connect with are comprised of technically challenged baby boomers, you may be missing a big opportunity.

Google Buzz opens micro blogging up to millions of new consumers. Many of these people are probably on Facebook now or are just starting to use it, but Facebook is different. On Facebook people become a fan of companies. My relationship with Company X on Facebook is much different than my relationship with Jack from Company X. Google Buzz gives B2B companies targeting technically challenged consumers the demographic reach of Facebook and the loose relationship standards of Twitter. Getting in early should pay off down the road.
