I don’t have the most authoritative blog in the world. I don’t post as often as I should, and I don’t spend enough time engaging the marketing community. The problem is that most of the blogs I read are all A-list online marketing blogs. Unless I reveal Google’s algorithm I’m going to have a tough time growing my PR3 blog by engaging A-list sites. That’s when I came up with a new approach for new bloggers to grow their site. You have to blog within your means.
Think of all the blogs in your vertical on a spectrum from 1 - 10 (10 being A-list). If you’re a 1 and you start engaging the 10s in your Google Reader you’ve got a long road ahead of you. There just too busy and have to much to do to link back to every PR3 site that leaves a comment. If you start a lawn mowing company is your first client going to be Yankees stadium? Of course not. So don’t try to grow you new blog by only engaging A-list sites.
